Preparation and Submission of Goods & Services Tax (GST) Returns

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a tax that is charged on the supply of the goods and services in Singapore; and on the goods that are imported into Singapore. It is compulsory for your company to register to collect GST Returns if your company's annual turnover (from the sales of taxable goods and services) exceeds, or is likely to exceed, S$1 million. This requirement may be waived if your company exports or supplies the majority the goods and/or services internationally. It is advisable for companies to register for GST returns for a couple of reasons:

• Business can claim the GST incurred from their business purchases
• The difference between the GST paid and the GST collected can be claimed as GST refund from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS)
