Management Reporting

Management reporting mainly concerns itself with the recasting of the firm’s overall financial results into profit and loss statements and including budget forecast. These are arranged according to organisation (such as divison, business unit or department), geographical location, product, client segment and individual client. Non-financial variables that are of concern to the management, such as employee headcount, clients, households and accounts, are monitored using a management reporting system and/or budget system.

Management reporting systems are essential tools for the evaluation of the performance of organisations and managers. The results from the reporting systems can be key to determining compensations, such as bonuses. The adoption of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) is also useful.
